One of the major concerns of a fashionista is never looking dated in terms of her fashion style.  So how can you make a look last a longtime.  I generally say stick to a classic style that can be dressed up or down. A simple sweater is a key staple in any wardrobe.  The key is understanding how to pair it. Make sure to get a color that is a classic in any season like red, black, white or grey. Generally these colors can match with almost anything. Find other pieces that work well with your body type. Most people do not know how to dress for their body type and I will address this in a future post. When you dress for you and not others you will feel more confident. Be careful not to forget the general principle that less is more and accessories are your best friend.

You can get a simple jewel neck sweater or button down cardigan can do the trick for this classic simple style. You can also layer it in the fall/winter with a blazer or just were it solo in the spring/ summer if you live in mostly cooler climates. Try some bold colors to spruce up the look and make this classic look seem on trend season after season.

Fashion is all about style and taste. Not everyone has the eye, but we all need clothing. Whether you are a fashionista or just put on the same old t-shirt everyday, clothing is a staple in our daily lives. Planning a wardrobe is not for everyone but everyone should consider it.  It saves time, creates a good impression and helps you to feel better.

Yes, feel better. Fashion can be therapeutic. Haven't you heard of retail therapy? 😉 Seriously now, all joking aside. When you dress well you feel well. Why do you think that makeover shows are so amazing not only for the client but also for the viewer. When we look good, we feel good. I am sure there is some Ph.D. study out there about it.

In all the years that I have been involved in fashion, not only the beauty that fashion creates as art, but also the emotions it generates are endless. We may sometimes feel we cannot keep up with the trends as they are changing so quickly, but maintaining key staple pieces in your wardrobe can help to make you feel just as polished in any situation.

I will cover some basics in the weeks to come. Stay tuned.
